Rev Jo-anne Smalbil

Originally from Adelaide, I am married with two adult children.
My husband Lou and I moved to Broken Hill in 2005, where I was Ordained as a
Minister of the Word in Broken Hill in December 2013.
My first ministry placement was in Cobar/Nyngan.
This was a joint placement working 50% for the congregations of Cobar and
Nyngan and 50% as a Bush Chaplain for Frontier Services, which involved
visiting people on remote properties within a 250km radius of both towns.
My next placement was in Armidale, as a congregational minister.
I began part-time supply ministry for Nambucca Heads UCA in January 2022,
and was asked by Uniting if I would be interested in a part-time placement for
them as well.
My current role as a community minister for Nambucca Heads began in August
2022. This is a combined role involving a 40% placement for Uniting at Pacifica,
their aged care facility, and a 40% placement with the Nambucca Heads
Uniting church as their minister.
I love both aspects of the role and find it an absolute joy to be answering God’s call in this way.
